Not long ago, a customer contacted 3-D CNC, Inc. looking for help with a very difficult wire EDM application. The application involved cutting four .002" outside radius features into a die insert without washing out or over burning the radius during the cutting process. The customer informed me that three other wire EDM shops had already tried cutting the radius and failed. 3-D CNC, Inc. was up to the challenge. Using our Agie Vertex 2F wire EDM machine, we were able to program the required wire EDM technology to cut the radius. Our customer was extremely pleased with the results, saving them both time and money in meeting what had become a tight delivery commitment.
The newly formed Continuous Improvement Team to further improve and enhance the 3-D CNC, Inc. VMC machining department met for the first time on Tuesday, 9/22/09. Two initial areas for potential improvement include enhancing the VMC area tool storage system and continue to improve and update machine set-up sheets to help increase job set-up time efficiencies. The team will be meeting on a weekly basis for the next several weeks to focus on VMC machining department area improvements.
Mike Getzke, 3-D CNC, Inc. Sales Manager, attended the recent MD&M Midwest Show in Chicago, IL. The show seemed well attended and featured the latest in medical device manufacturing technologies. Getzke looks forward to attending the MD&M Show in Minneapolis coming in October.
